Description: Instituted in 1348. A comprehensive school with faculties in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and medicine. New degree structure introduced after 1990. Older scheme was the absolvent (graduate) of four to five years followed in a year by rigorous examinations and the degree of "lower" or "small" doctor. Higher degrees were the kandidát ved, followed by the doktor ved (highest degree). Usual admission requirements are the maturity certificate (after 12 years of education) and an entrance examination.
