Description: Instituted in 1980 through merger of University of Singapore and Nanyang University. Has a strong reputation. Former Nanyang University campus became Nanyang Technological Institute, an engineering and technology training facility. From 1981 to 1991 the National University of Singapore conferred the degrees. Nanyang Technological University including the National Institute of Education is now a degree conferring university. Usual admission requirement is the Singapore General Certificate of Education advanced level examinations (12 years of education).
